Summary : Great food. Beautiful décor. Service is either really great, or horrible. No in between. Super inconsistent.
This will be my most mixed review to date….
First experience: We pull in to Geisha House, so excited to find out that we made it just in time for happy hour! Only to find out that happy hour is only at the bar.. and kids can only sit in the restaurant, so they do not offer happy hour to people who bring kids to the restaurant. Bummer.
Second attempt: We return to Geisha House only because my friend was the Executive Chef at the time and she promised us an amazing experience if we gave it just one more chance! This evening, we did not have the kiddos in tow.. so we did sit on the bar side and take advantage of the happy hour. We were pleasantly surprised! Our food was AMAZING! The happy hour prices were spectacular, décor was beautiful, and Chef Carolyn and manager Rob were wonderful! The Japanese Lasagna roll with fresh, homemade eel sauce is to die for! To top it all off, we were informed that after our last experience, they would be able to accommodate families now in the restaurant during happy hour! Winning!
After this experience, I was so excited to write my review and share with you all how awesome the food and happy hour pricing are!
This brings me to our third, and final visit:
Wow. We walk in the door at 8:20PM. Happy hour ends at 9, so we are excited to be able to enjoy it! At 8:40, we finally see our server for the first time, who takes our drink order. We asked him if we could place our food order, as we would like it to be included in the happy hour and he says he will be right back to take it. At 9:01, we see the server walking out the door, and another waiter walks up to take our order. We ask about the happy hour menu, and he informs us that it’s 9:01 and happy hour is over. We are told there is nothing he can do about it, regardless of the fact that we have been sitting there for forty minutes. Crazy, right? We ask for the manager (Rob), only to be told that we cannot speak with him because he is in the back with the owner. What?! What kind of owners know so little about the business that they would take their key person off the floor on a Saturday night during what would be their busiest time?!
So… if you don’t mind inconsistent, not so great service.. I will say the food is FANTASTIC! I only scored the service a 10 because of the service we received from Chef Carolyn and Manager Rob. They are both great. If it weren’t for them, the score for that would have been a zero.
